Response to feedback

In the video shown Up above you can watch my two Pitches, feedback was given to me in the form of questions, The large majority of questions asked to me that I thought were helpful to my product creation. There were few questions that I Believe didn't contribute anything towards the creation of my product.

Firstly a common question asked in my pitches was about my content in my magazine and would I run out of any due to Hertfordshire being a smaller footballing county.

This is something to seriously consider as we hope that our magazine and more importantly our business can be sustainable for years to come. To combat this we have decided that during the footballing season we would focus our attention to clubs that aren't in Hertfordshire (however they still have a heavy Hertfordshire backing). We would look at supporters clubs, groups of people that would travel to a far way club and support them. This feedback was key for us as we need to make sure our content is enjoyable for the reader. Its also an appropriate question asked by the client because they might be investing in the magazine and they would like to know the longevity of the product. Going forward I understand that Hertfordshire football is a very narrow and niche topic to make a magazine about, in order to keep up with competition such as FourFourTwo, we must ensure that we have content to provide to our audience even when the footballing season is over. Some of our ideas for content include season reviews, this is where we go over the previous campaign for all Hertfordshire footballing teams and we rate how their seasons have been and we could also manage to get fan opinions of their clubs seasons, a follow up to the season review could be our own season preview for each team and how they would match up against there opponents. During the time between the footballing season ending and starting once more, it could be the perfect time to interview former players or managers who came form Hertfordshire. We would try our hardest to keep our audience entertained during this period without football.

Another topic that was frequently asked by my clients was about the inclusion of females in my target audience and in my content for my magazine. This is because football is typically seen as a Male dominated sport and the ratio of Men actively watching footballing is far greater then women.
This does bring some cause for concern to our business, because our magazine wants to be as open as possible to a wide audience in order to sell as many magazines as possible. Despite this concern, women's football is becoming as popular as ever due to the recent success of England at the 2018 women's world cup. Because of this I believe that despite football having a predominately male audience, our female audience will feel just as welcome. However because football is predominately a male sport, we still feel as if we could still have complaints from some of our audience about the involvement of women in our magazine. To ensure that our audience understands that women are a big part of modern football we have decided to include a story or a topic featuring womens football in Hertfordshire every issue. This ensures that our audience is used to the presence of women in football, however due to the age of the target audience I believe that men of ages 16-25 are more than willing to accept women in Herts Corner.

My clients also commented on the colour scheme and how blue could often appeal to boys stereotypically. My client asked if the colour scheme would be damaging to our female audience. However, I believe that this is not a relevant question for our audience. I believe that our female audience is more mature then to just make snap judgements based on the colour scheme of the magazine.

Topics to think about in my pre-production

  • Am I making my magazine as diverse as it could possibly be?
  • What can I do in order to keep my magazine from becoming stale and repetitive?
  • How can i differentiate myself from my top competitor FourFourTwo?
